“With our deep seated presence in the area of e-commerce fulfillment, we were fortunate to highlight our capabilities specific to packaging automation.”

From PDA member Shorr Packaging:

Shorr Packaging, was proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the 2016 Operations Summit at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 12-14, 2016. Shorr displayed the latest in parcel packaging and automation in its booth; hosting dozens of visitors during the popular event.

As moderator of the packaging panel, Jim Burns, Shorr’s Corporate Sales and Marketing Manager led a presentation on “Reaping the Benefits of a Packaging Evaluation”. The informative presentation was attended by over one hundred operations professionals. The attendees got an up-close look at how significant their packaging choices are on their total cost of shipping, as well as a glimpse into warehouses that have benefited from right-size evaluations and technology.

“When companies are able to effectively evaluate the right combination of components, their total cost out the door will improve dramatically,” mentioned Jim Burns. “By developing a process to analyze and address packaging, labor, shipping costs, and customer experience, our customers can fully understand gains and losses in areas where advantages could be the most effective.”

Shorr can’t control labor rates or shipping costs and dim weight regulations, however with proper evaluations Shorr can show how to make these components more efficient, showing cost savings. It’s all about using the components of packaging to leverage show significant advantages.

The Shorr Packaging team was particularly happy to welcome guests attending the 2016 Operations Summit to our Cincinnati division where we were afforded the opportunity to showcase some of our unique capabilities as a top tier packaging distributor.

Discussion was focused on the conversion of boxes to bags, in relation to dimensional packaging for the ecommerce fulfillment industry. Those attending the tour were given an overview of Shorr’s automated equipment program, capabilities and services. Equipment demos were given for the Conflex Fusion Shrink Wrapper, Lantech C-300 Case Erector, 3M-Matic 7000r Case Sealer, Nestaflex Conveyor and other various void fill systems.

“With our deep seated presence in the area of e-commerce fulfillment, we were fortunate to highlight our capabilities specific to packaging automation,” said Chip Reavley, Director, Packaging Automation Group. Our laser-like focus on increasing productivity and decreasing both material and labor costs brought the attention of the group to our mail order fulfillment solution we’ve developed in partnership with Sharp Packaging.
