2020 has been a busy year in the PDA community.

From acquisitions and expansion, to new innovations in packaging processes, our packaging distributors have been busy making waves this year in the packaging industry. We have seen philanthropic contributions, in addition to welcoming new members to our community. Celebrating these successes and acknowledging our growth along the way is important to us at PDA. PDA Planning Meeting, January 2020

Each January, the members and suppliers who are part of PDA come together to plan for a successful year ahead. The meeting kicked off on Sunday with a welcome reception where our attendees met to celebrate the start of the new year and start conversations about the progress to come. From the chatter of the crowd, it was evident that the group is excited for the meeting ahead, and the innovation that is coming to packaging this year.

Her speech, entitled “Optimizing Packaging for an E-Commerce World” showcased her on-the-ground experience in ecommerce & real-world examples to explore the trends and habits of the growing online retail industry.

Crownhill Joins the Paper & Paperboard Packaging Environmental Council, February 2020

The PPEC is a representative body that promotes the environmental, social and economic stability of the paper packaging industry in Canada. It’s quite unique when compared to other organizations in the packaging industry, as rather than focusing on every issue its partners face, the PPEC focuses solely on environmental and sustainability concerns. Representing over 90% of the packaging mills and packaging converters in Canada, the PPEC operates under one voice to successfully lobby governmental bodies and agencies, and to network and coordinate with other industry-related organizations. Its forward-thinking goals, experienced representatives and committed membership allows the PPEC to develop and implement practical solutions to environmentally related issues the industry faces.

BGR Acquires Laise Packaging, February 2020

We are thrilled to announce our acquisition of Laise Packaging, a leading value-added distributor of packaging supplies and equipment, based in Louisville, Kentucky. Laise’s sales force and branch footprint complements BGR’s coverage in the region. BGR will maintain Laise’s operations, providing the company’s customer base access to BGR’s 50 thousand-plus product portfolio and supply chain services to support their packaging operations.

Hughes Enterprises Donates Masks to Nurses in Middletown, March 2020

Bristol Township industrial distributor Hughes Enterprises donated 640 masks to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown on Tuesday while St. Luke’s University Health Network teamed with two companies to produce 3-D printed masks and face shields. It’s the latest push to make sure medical professions have enough supplies to battle the spread of the coronavirus.

In an industry that is expected to grow to over $218 billion by 2025, it is no small feat to be awarded as a top growth packaging distributor. Hughes Enterprises of Levittown received that elite designation at the Pregis Premier Partners Event last month. The accomplishment is all the more notable considering the company has received that top honor for four of the past five years.
