RIGID VS. FLEXIBLE PACKAGING: TRENDS AND INSIGHTS THAT YOU’LL WANT TO READ
Technology is also constantly shifting the way we shop and obtain products. When consumer behavior changes, businesses must react accordingly. While we can’t predict the future, we must keep up with the trends to control costs and understand how to increase buyer satisfaction in the packaging process.
Because of technological advances, we currently live in an instantaneous world where you can order just about anything online and have most products arrive at your door with in days (if not the same day). With roughly 2 billion people in the world carrying smartphones, many depend on these devices for grocery and meal-kit delivery, product reviews and information, and coupons and deals – and this is just the beginning.
TOP PODCASTS FOR ANYONE IN A PACKAGING ROLE
Podcasting is one of the most popular mediums for businesses and individuals to communicate important information and other insights with their audiences. As a medium that was not even available a few decades ago, it is remarkable that there are now over 600 thousand active podcasts and almost half of the population has listened to a podcast.
The packaging industry is no stranger to podcasting either. The podcasts that are currently available in packaging cover a range of topics. From flexible packaging to market segment insights there is something for anyone in a packaging role.
AI AND PACKAGING: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Machine learning and artificial intelligence have infiltrated all areas of our lives. Every device we use has AI driving the programs, software, and applications that power our lives. AI allows Uber to predict rider demand and send you the closest driver. Your email application uses AI to sort out spam and categorize your emails. Teachers use programs that can detect plagiarism within seconds. And your bank uses AI to facilitate everything from fraud to deposits and more.
Without question packaging has been influenced by AI as well. Here’s what you need to know about artificial intelligence and packaging.

PDA MEMBERS GO ABOVE & BEYOND TO BRING UNIQUE FACE SHIELDS TO THE FRONT LINES OF COVID-19
With coast to coast locations throughout the USA and Canada, coupled with solid access to the supply chain of necessary materials, our members were in a unique position to initiate an “all hands on-board” effort to bring much needed face shields to market.
The unique proposition of the PDA designed face shields is two-fold. Firstly, the shield is produced from proven American made packaging materials, such as urethane foam and polymer film, which our members have long standing direct access to. Secondly, utilizing a knowledge base honed from extensive years of packaging structural design experience, these face shields were ergonomically designed for quick (30 second) efficient assembly either on-site / on-demand or in advance of utilization.
