2022 has been a busy year in the PDA community.
From acquisitions and expansion, to new innovations in packaging processes, our packaging distributors and supplier partners have been busy making waves this year in the packaging industry. As the industry has continued to face shortages, pricing uncertainty, and other challenges, our community has stayed strong. Celebrating these successes and acknowledging our growth along the way is important to us at PDA. Keep reading for a recap on the milestones that have happened in our community this year.
PDA Welcomes New Member Fastpak
Fastpak – Fastpak Systems was founded in 1986 by brothers Hal and Nick Bayless. With a tenured senior management team that includes 2nd generation family members and 17 sales professionals, Fastpak has been actively expanding in the Southeast.
PDA Meetings
June 2022 Annual Meeting – Packaging Distributors of America’s 16th annual meeting took place at Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina, on Sunday June 26th through Thursday June 30th. The venue, a perfect setting for our Members and Suppliers to network, was appreciated by all as new connections were formed and business got done! Everyone enjoyed celebrating PDA while raising money for charity and honoring achievements.
March 2022 Strategy Meeting – Typically this meeting is held in January, but due to a record breaking ice storm the meeting was rescheduled for March. It was held from March 20th to March 22nd at the Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Over 100 people (from distributor member companies and preferred supplier companies) came together to learn about updates from PDA and collaborate for a successful year ahead. With the current challenges in the packaging marketplace this meeting was more important than ever for our PDA community.
Champion Meeting – A PDA Champions meeting was recently held in Atlanta with packaging professionals from our Member and Supplier companies attending. George Strobel kicked off the meeting with general greetings and some facts about PDA. Barb Dammann took the stage next and led the group through the PDA mission and goals.
PDA LAUNCHES MEMBER & SUPPLIER COUNCILS
Packaging Distributors of America (PDA) is proud to announce the initiation of our Member Council. The Purpose of the Member Council will be to assist in identifying and developing programs that bring value to the Members of Packaging Distributors of America. The objective of these programs will be to help our Members expand their knowledge and expertise within the packaging industry. The Member Council will work alongside the Supplier Council in order to establish new business relationships while enhancing existing ones.

B2B Acquisitions
B2B Industrial Packaging, a GenNx360 company, just announced the acquisition of Tri Pro Graphics and Packaging in St. Louis, Mo. This is B2B Industrial Packaging’s 25th major acquisition. B2B Industrial Packaging CEO Bill Drake said, “Tri Pro Graphics and Packaging is a leading packaging solutions supplier in St. Louis, and we are excited to start expanding their capabilities. We are committed to building on the outstanding client service that Tri Pro Graphics and Packaging has always provided. PaperWave from AirWave/Floeter Wins Prestigious Sustainable Packaging Coalition Award
The AirWave PaperWave sustainable packaging system has been awarded the Top Innovation in Responsible Sourcing Award at the annual SPC Innovator Awards. Presented by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, the award recognizes breakthroughs in the procurement and use of sustainable materials, improvements in sourcing practices, and innovative uses of materials in packaging solutions.
A MESSAGE FROM NEW-TECH PACKAGING AND CROWNHILL PACKAGING
In August 2022, Crownhill Packaging had the pleasure of hosting New-Tech Packaging at their head office in Toronto, Ontario. As New-Tech and Crownhill share similarities in their offerings—such as foam fabrication, packaging conversion, and assembly services—there was a shared interest in seeing each other’s facilities firsthand.
